1. Start
Mr. Tuohiniemi started the meeting at 9:08.
2. Assessment of the situation
This was the first meeting after meeting the customer the day before.
Mr. Arrastia had prepared a presentation on TWiki.
3. Discussion
3.A - Presentation on TWiki
Mr. Arrastia gave a short presentation on using TWiki
<http://www.cs.karelia.ru/~tkt_daco/twiki/bin/view/Main/>: he showed
examples of editing pages, creating new pages and attaching files. User
accounts for each project members were decided to be created after
the meeting.
Mr. Arrastia also told that any questions on using TWiki and
requests on doing changes to its layout and user interface should be
addressed to him so that he can then do the necessary changes.
3.B - CVS Matters
CVS was decided to be installed after the meeting by Mr. Arrastia
and Mr. Aarniala.
3.C - Project Plan
It was decided that working on the project plan is started as soon
as possible. First a rough draft of the document is created and more
detail will be added after more discussion with the customer.
Mr. Laine will add the document templates to the CVS repository
so that the project group can start working on the project plan.
It was pointed out by Mr. Korzun that the section "Risk estimation"
isn't described in the Project Description document. It was however
decided that this section will be included in our project plan,
written by the team from Helsinki.
The groups will at first start working on the following
sections of the project plan:
- Risk estimation: Mr. Brown and Mr. Aarniala
- Introduction: The Petrozavodsk group
- Project Organization: Both groups will write about their
organization. Global information will
be written later.
3.D - Next meeting with the customer
The next meeting with Mr. Kojo takes place on January 30th and for
that meeting it was suggested that the group considers the following
issues:
- The main idea for the product should be decided quite soon, so now
we have to think about the different ideas. As pointed out by Mr. Brown
we should be critical about what we commit to doing so that we
do the right thing.
- Why shouldn't we just concentrate in the educational aspect of the
software and leave the research out at this moment?
- Create a tool that is excellent in education and becomes legendary at the
department.
- If the use of real data and tcpdump is agreed on, we need to get
some tcpdump files from the customer so that we can see how
the data is stored. Mr. Fernandez promised to find out more about
tcpdump.
It was made clear by Mr. Brown that there are two options
for the product:
- It can be a tool that shows predefined animations created by Mr. Kojo or
someone else using tcpdump and an analyzer created in the project.
- Or it can be a program that the student can use to play with,
which could be much better from an educational point of view.
It was said that the group still needs to be asking the question:
Why does the customer want to use real data and tcpdump instead of
simulating the data.
4. Action points
- Mr. Aarniala and Mr. Arrastia will setup the CVS repository and write
a short introduction on using it.
- All the attendants will register themselves a TWiki username and then
the registration page is closed.
- Mr. Laine will add the document templates to the CVS repository.
- Writing the project plan is started according to the division presented
above.
- Mr. Kulakov and Mr. Brown will discuss questions to be asked from
Mr. Kojo in the next meeting.
