1. Start
Mr. Brown started the meeting at 8:20.
2. Assessment of the situation
This was the second design meeting. Some design tasks had been done
by separate teams. A list of corrections from the review meeting had
been compiled by Mr. Arrastia.
3. Discussion
3-A: Work distribution
Mr. Vainio pointed out that the hours reported by group members are
quite different, so it might be possible that different track
keeping methods are being used. It was however decided that this isn't
anything dangerous, as the hours are used just for course statistics.
3-B: Visit to Petrozavodsk
Inkeri Verkamo visited the meeting at 8.30 to present herself and give
a short presentation about the trip to Petrozavodsk in May. The
following information was given by her:
- Mrs. Verkamo will arrange the train tickets and visas for the
whole group.
- Helsinki - St.Petersburg is traveled by day so that the train leaves
Helsinki early in the morning on May 2nd.
- St.Petersburg - Petrozavodsk is traveled at night time in 4 person
cabins. The train arrives at Petrozavodsk early in the morning.
- The trip back goes similarily so that we arrive at Helsinki on
May 13th.
- For the visas each group members should bring
* their passports
* the filled visa application forms
* one photo
* a photocopy of a travel insurance (and get an insurance if
doesn't have one)
* the filled travel insurance form
to Mrs. Verkamo some time specified later (around Easter). Mr. Brown
should also fill a special form required from U.S. citizens.
- The university of Helsinki pays for the train tickets and visas
- The university of Petrozavodsk arranges accomodation, but we have to
buy food by ourselves. The university of Petrozavodsk also pays a
scolarship of 500 rubles for each student.
- Mrs. Verkamo promised to ask Mr. Korzoun about how much food costs
in Russia so that we will know how much money to take with us.
3-C: Requirements Specification
The corrections to the requirement specification were discussed and
the task of making the changes discussed in the review meeting was
divided to the group members (see action points). It was also decided
that Mr. Brown will skim through the document and do some spellchecking.
The comments from Mr. Kojo will be handled by Mr. Laine with help from
Mr. Brown and Mr. Arrastia.
It was also decided that as an act of sending something concrete to the
Petrozavodsk group, we will send the notes from Mr. Kojo by traditional
mail to Petrozavodsk once the changes stated in it have been made. Mr.
Tuohiniemi will take care of actually mailing the document.
3-D: Design
Some preliminary design work had been divided to group members in the
meeting before the review meeting and the ideas from this work was
discussed passionately in the meeting. No actual decisions were made.
The items discussed were:
- Mr. Brown and Mr. Laine presented an idea of an animation scenario
editor. The idea was concidered as too much extra work by most
of the other group members.
- Mr. Aarniala, Mr. Arrastia and Mr. Fernandez presented some ideas
about the data structures.
- Mr. Vainio had prepared a class diagram that was discussed actually
only after the meeting during lunch.
4. Action points
